PETER CHELSOM
Peter Chelsom is a life-long photographer and acclaimed filmmaker. Born in Blackpool, England and based in Los Angeles.
His films include SERENDIPITY (John Cusack, Kate Beckinsale), SHALL WE DANCE (Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez), HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS (Christopher Plummer, Simon Pegg, Rosamund Pike), HEAR MY SONG (Adrian Dunbar, Ned Beatty), FUNNY BONES (Lee Evans, Jerry Lewis, Oliver Platt), THE SPACE BETWEEN US (Gary Oldman, Asa Butterfield) and recently, SECURITY (Marco D'Amore, Fabrizio Bentivoglio).
He attributes becoming a filmmaker to a single moment in time – his thirteenth birthday present was a used Kodak Retinette 1B. Suddenly everything became a photograph – “I don’t draw a line between my still photography and my films. One is always feeding the other. It’s always about the place where humanity meets photography. Still photographs tell stories just as much as films.”
